Deacon Brezhnev was
born in Zvenigorod, Russia to a Russian father and American mother on
September 21, 1989. His father died in an building accident when
Deacon was 6, so he remembers very little of him. Deacon grew up in
Telluride, CO in the United States with his mother and her parents.
However, when he was 14, his mother moved back to Russia due to career
circumstances. The move wasn't really much of a problem as he didn't
have any friends at school that he was attached to and he grew up
speaking fluent Russian, as well as English. The culture change took
some getting used to, but the socially inept Brezhnev adapted quickly
and he also got to spend time with his father's parents (whom he had
visited from time to time during his childhood). At the time, he lived
by the creed that so long as he had access to a computer and the
internet, then he could live anywhere. This turned out to be the case
and he continued to live in Russia (St Petersburg to be precise) until
he was 18 and completed high school.
Deacon
returned to the United States at this time and lived with his maternal
grandparents. He worked in various jobs, not really doing anything
major and unsure of where he wanted to go in life. Then the recruiting
campaign for Stargate Academy attracted his attention. A little unsure
of himself (and relatively certain that he wasn't going to get
accepted), Deacon applied for the Academy and was quite surprised when
he was accepted to do Psychology.
